Too late, Mr Cameron
Despite David Cameron protests, social networks have played multiple roles in the whole UK riot story. For example, crowdmaps have been created to gather real-time information about ongoing events and help the post-riot cleanup. Blogs too have helped the communities for transportation and street cleaning. Even the Met Police had created a Flickr webpage to identify possible rioters from CCTV images and announced it on its Twitter account. Rioters have used social networks to organize themselves as much as they have used their watches, but nobody is asking to tear down the Big Ben for that. Cameron’s vision is not just right or wrong: first of all, it is late.
